Our Saint John Parish Rosary Altar Society meets once a month in the church Social Hall. We first pray the Rosary in honor of Our Blessed Virgin Mother, Mary. Afterwards, we plan the year’s events, discuss the monthly agenda, send get well cards to ailing members, and discern with our pastor the needs of the altar for the celebration of the sacraments.
Meeting Dates:
The second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 pm in the social hall of Saint John’s Church, 538 Main Street, Summerhill, Pennsylvania.
Why pray the Rosary?
When we pray the Rosary in its ideal setting, doing a whole set of mysteries, the prayer can slow us down, calm our hearts, and enable us to rest in God’s presence. It draws out the deepest desires in our souls, desires for God and God alone. The rhythm of the repetitious prayers can have a profound spiritual effect.
Rosary Quotes
“The Rosary is the best therapy for these distraught, unhappy, fearful, and frustrated souls, precisely because it involves the simultaneous use of three powers: the physical, the vocal, and the spiritual, and in that order.” ― Venerable Fulton J. Sheen
“All people of good will can, and must say the Rosary every day. Why? In order to put ourselves in contact with God, to thank Him for His benefits and ask for the graces we need. It is the prayer which places us in familiar contact with God, like the son who goes to his father to thank him for the gifts he has received, to talk to him about special concerns, to receive his guidance, his help, his support and his blessing.” ― Sister Lucia
“Pray the Rosary every day in order to obtain peace for the world and the end of war.” ― Our Lady of Fatima, May 13th, 1917
Prayer. O God, whose only begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal salvation. Grant, we beseech Thee, that while meditating on these mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, that we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
