What is heaven like?
Catechism Meditation:
The perfect life with the Most Holy Trinity―this communion of life and love with the Trinity, with the Virgin Mary, the angels and all the blessed―is called “heaven.” Heaven is the ultimate end and fulfillment of the deepest human longings, the state of supreme, definitive happiness.” ―No. 1024
REFLECTION. Saint Augustine described heaven as, “The possession of God for eternity in endless joy.” It is not merely a place to rest after death but the fullness of love, justice, and truth. In heaven, our deepest longings for happiness and communion will be fulfilled.
In the book, Day by Day with the Catechism, Peter A. Giersch says… We often think of heaven as endless physical gratification, but it is more like coming home after a long day to find everyone in a good mood, the house clean, and the smell of a delicious meal cooking.
PRAYER. Gracious God, as we face the unknown, grant us Your unwavering guidance. Illuminate our path with Your wisdom, leading us through this transition with clarity and purpose. May Your divine presence be our compass, guiding us safely to the heavenly realms.
Timeless Wisdom Quote:
“It is the mystery of the Trinity which gives the answer to the quest for our happiness and the meaning of Heaven. Heaven is not a place where there is the mere vocal repetition of alleluias or the monotonous fingering of harps. Heaven is a place where we find the fullness of all the fine things we enjoy on this earth. Heaven is a place where we find in its plenitude those things which slake the thirst of hearts, satisfy the hunger of starving minds, and give rest to unrequited love. Heaven is the communion with perfect Life, perfect Truth, and perfect Love.” ― Venerable Fulton J. Sheen
